What is Amarillo Escape and Mystery?
Amarillo Escape and Mystery is a fun, family-friendly, new entertainment concept that brings out your inner sleuth. Here, we toss the game controller to the side and put you INSIDE the game.
Our escape rooms are based off of the board game, Clue, and popular online escape games. Our escape rooms are one hour games designed for 2-10 individuals (each room differs- see “Our Escape Rooms” to learn how many participants can play each game) . We lock your group inside one of our rooms, a clock begins ticking and the challenge is simple. You and your team have one hour to find clues and crack puzzles and riddles in order to solve the mystery and escape the room.
Our mystery dinners are a unique combination of traditional murder mystery dinners and escape rooms. These dinners are held at our partner location, The Wolflin House. Guests come dressed in theme, enjoy a buffet style dinner and channel their inner sleuth to solve a mystery. We can also arrange private mystery dinners for groups 35 or larger.
How much does it cost?
The escape games cost $25 per person plus 6.75% state tax equaling to $26.69 per person. Mystery dinners are $50 per person plus tax. The cost varies for large group, private experiences.
What are your hours?
We are open 7 days a week by reservation. Click the BOOK NOW tab and choose the escape game you are interested in to see available times for the date you wish to come. We can also open at additional times for large, private parties.
For mystery dinners, click the BOOK NOW tab to see a list of available dates.
How do I book?
Our escape games must be booked online at least two hours in advance. You must book by clicking the BOOK NOW link. Participants must pay at the time of booking. We accept all major credit cards.
Mystery dinners must be booked 4 days in advance by clicking the BOOK NOW link. Participants must pay at the time of booking. We accept all major credit cards.
Do you offer refunds?
All of our activities are non-refundable. However, we can reschedule your escape room if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your game start time, and your mystery dinner if you contact us 4 days before the event. Because all of our games offer limited “seating”, last minute cancellations take away a slot and prevents someone else from booking.
Will I play with other participants?
No, all of our games are private regardless of party size. With the ongoing COVID pandemic, we have restricted games to your party only.
In the mystery dinners, possibly. Participants will play with those seated at their table. Each table holds up to 9 guests. If you book 9 tickets, you will have the table to yourself and your team will be full. If you book 2 tickets, 7 others may join you.
How long will the experience last?
Escape rooms: This will depend on your group’s skill level. The maximum game time will be 60 minutes. If you fail to escape the room in time, don’t worry. A game master will release you, and you’ll leave with nothing more than a bruised ego. However, if your group happens to be master sleuths, it may take you less time. Plan to spend 20 minutes prior to check in and receive instructions and 15 minutes after each game to debrief and take photos.
Mystery dinners: Roughly 2.5 hours.
In the escape rooms, am I really going to be locked inside a room?
It’s crazy, we know, but the City of Amarillo apparently frowns upon us holding you hostage. Therefore, the room will be “virtually” locked. There will be a final clue and buzzer. If any participant opens the door before that final buzzer is pushed, the game comes to an end and players forfeit any remaining time.
Are the escape rooms scary?
Unlike haunted houses, our goal is not to scare you; it is to immerse you into a themed environment and test your wit. However, we offer a variety of escape room themes, with some themes being creepier than others. Read the description of each room on the “escape room” page. If you are hesitant to do a creepy room, we recommend that you pick one of our rooms with a lighter theme.
Is there an age minimum?
Escape rooms: Not necessarily, your children are welcome to play with you (the cost is $25 plus tax per person, regardless of age). However, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Our rooms are designed for adults and not recommended for youth birthday parties younger than 14.
Mystery dinners: Because this is live, unscripted entertainment, the mystery dinners are not recommended for anyone under 15.
Would you recommend this for a child’s birthday party?
Not for groups younger than 14. While the concept is appealing to children, our games are designed for adults. The content is difficult and is likely to just leave groups younger than 14 frustrated. Please keep in mind, participants younger than 18 must have at least one paying adult in the escape room with them.
Do I need to be physically fit or overly smart to play the escape games?
This is a test of the mind, not the body. People of all fitness levels can play. All of the clues are at eye-level or below, so scaling the walls like Spiderman is definitely discouraged. Are you smart enough? All the clues to solve the mystery and escape are within the room; they just need to be uncovered. You do not need to have a PhD in criminology, or be an avid gamer to play. Good communication, an inquisitive mind and an observant eye will definitely be the key to success.

What do I need to bring, and wear?
Escape rooms: Please bring a picture ID and a copy of your confirmation (it can be on your phone or printed). As far as what to wear, all the clues are at eye-level or below. We won’t ask you to do yoga poses or jog a mile. However, it might be difficult to bend down in stilettos and a pencil skirt.

How early should I arrive?
Escape rooms: Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your game start time to check in and receive instructions. Like the airport, we do not delay the adventure for late arrivals or propel you up into the aircraft after it has taken flight. Therefore, late arrivals will, unfortunately, forfeit their game.
Mystery dinner: Doors open at 6 p.m. for check-in.
Can you accommodate large parties or corporate events?
Absolutely! Please see the “Large Groups” tab for detailed information.
