FAQs

If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to contact us.
An escape game is a real-life experience where participants are locked in a room and must use elements of the room, the group’s collective knowledge, and wits to discover clues, solve puzzles, and escape and/or find the missing item within a set amount of time.
Our doors are only virtually locked. You are never truly locked inside the room with no exit. We encourage players to keep the door closed but if you are claustrophobic, we will make accommodations to help ease your nerves. We do find that most players lose their fear once they are engaged in the game and the room.
The experience will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. We encourage guests to arrive about 15 minutes early to allow for check-in and restroom breaks before the game begins. We will give 60 minutes for the game. Sometimes we allow guests to go a little beyond that if they are very close to the end, we want you to have fun. We usually spend about 15 minutes after your game as well debriefing you and just listening to your experience. We use this to gain feedback to improve future games.
ABSOLUTELY! There are many guests who will rebook with us and play a second game right after finishing their first one. We see that a lot of guests do better the second time because their brains are warmed up and they are really into the puzzle solving though process.
All of our games are private to you and your party size. Once you book a room for at least 2 people, it becomes private to just you. If you have other guests who would like to join your group, bring them. We can add them at the door once you arrive. We encourage people to book for the number they know will be there. If there is any doubt, book for the minimum and add them at the door.
You will not need to bring anything extra. Just bring yourself, your phone (for electronic registration), and a great personality. We will take care of the rest.
No! We allow all ages. We have witnessed some children as young as 7 and 8 years old in escape rooms doing amazingly well. We tell people that if their child is into logic and puzzle, they could do very well in an escape room. We encourage people to listen to the little ones. They usually have great observations and see things that adults skim right over. It is amazing watching children in escape rooms.

About Us

What we do:

Escape reality and become the sleuth at Amarillo Escape and Mystery. Leave the game controllers at home because, here, we put you INSIDE the game.

Our Escape Rooms: (Based off of the board game, Clue, and online escape games) Enter one of our theme-based rooms where the door will lock behind you. A clock begins ticking and you, along with other participants, have 60 minutes to solve clues, puzzles and riddles to unravel a mystery and escape the room.

Our Mystery Dinners: Our themed mystery dinners offer a full evening of entertainment. Come dressed in character, enjoy dinner then channel your inner sleuth as you work to solve a mystery. Our mystery dinners are one of a kind, and combine traditional murder mystery dinner with escape room.

Keith and Michelle Flood started began their journey into escape rooms over 3 years ago. It was Keith’s birthday and he wanted something to do with the family other than just going to dinner and a movie. We had been doing everything as a family that day but had never done an escape room. Michelle was googling things to do and Amarillo Escape and Mystery came up as a top thing to do in Amarillo. We decided to give it a try and pointed the car to 12208 Canyon Drive.  After several minutes of trying to navigate to the business, we walked into this quirky little front office with red shag carpet, black couches and funny pictures on the wall but were greeted by a smile. After our game master had us sign the release forms, asked us if we needed to use the restroom, and off  we went to our life changing adventure. Our first visit was to The Vault and we failed. No one knew what we were doing but we had a blast. We all had smiles on our faces and spent new time together and made memories that will last a lifetime. Every time we go to new places we are always on the lookout for a new escape room to try and test our wits. We always enjoy doing them with the family and spending quality time with the kids. We have the opportunity to learn new things about each other and make new memories each time we play a game.

We took over ownership from Amy and Jessica on November 6th of 2019. After weeks of working out legal details, signing lease agreements and meeting with each other, we were finally able to close and graciously took on the reins from some wonderful ladies who have built a great attraction. They created a fun, family friendly environment where friends, family and even strangers can be locked up for an hour and come out having some new found memories. We are looking forward to continuing that legacy and making this a place that all are welcome and good times are had. We want people to make new friends, strengthen bonds among current ones and create new memories with their families that they can tell their children and grandchildren.

We hope you will come out and enjoy a room with us. Book a room with us or book a dinner with us and be our guest.
